“The Kurdistan Region must be included in governance talks for territories liberated by Peshmerga during anti-ISIS campaign in Mosul,” said the Chancellor of the Kurdistan Region’s Security Council Masrour Barzani in a meeting with the French Ambassador to Iraq Mark Barety and the French Consul-General to Erbil Dominique Mas on Tuesday.
The meeting focused on the war against ISIS terrorists, the latest political and military developments of the area and the bilateral relations.
Masrour Barzani praised the visited by the French President Francois Hollande on January 2nd 2017 and considered as an important symbolic gesture of the strong ties between both nations. “The relations and friendship between France and Kurdistan Region goes back to the past positions and assistances of France with regards to the people of Kurdistan,” he said.
They also discussed the mechanisms of expanding the military and humanitarian assistances and curing injured Peshmergas. It was also emphasized that the independence of Kurdistan will be made through peace and dialogue with Iraq and that achieving that right by the Kurds will bring further stability to the area. “Kurdistan’s independence is the unifying factor and a shared goal for all Kurdish political parties,” Masrour Barzani said on the differences between the political parties in Kurdistan.
Ambassador Mas emphasized on the continuation and expanding the relationships in every term and added that they have turned their commitments into actions and will support any step which will lead to the development and prosperity of the people of Kurdistan.
