President Masoud Barzani received a Syrian opposition delegation headed by Anas al-Abdah, the President of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces. During the meeting President Barzani warmly welcomed the delegation and stated that the Kurdistan Region will continue to provide assistance to the Syrian refugees in the Kurdistan Region, adding that the defeat of the terrorists of the Islamic State in Iraq will not suffice in eliminating the terrorists’ threat until the they are demolished in Syria also.
Mr. Anas al-Abdah expressed his gratitude to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq for the provision of a safe haven for hundreds of thousands of refugees from Syria and added that that will remain part of the memory of the people of Syria. Mr. al-Abdah and President Barzani spoke of the future military operations against the terrorists in Raqqah and Mosul and the magnitude of their importance in defeating the terrorists of the Islamic State. President Barzani also reiterated his position of planning for post-liberation Mosul as the people of Mosul are right to be expecting a brighter future after the end of the terrorists of the Islamic State.
