The Canadian Ambassador to Jordan and Iraq Bruno Saccomani praised the bravery of the Peshmarga forces in the war against ISIS terrorist and reiterated his country’s support to the Kurdistan Region in a meeting with Masrour Barzani on Thursday in Salahaddin Pirmam.
The meeting between the Chancellor of the Kurdistan Region Security Council and the Canadian Ambassador included discussion of the Canadian federal elections and the decision to withdraw fighting jets from the US-led Counter ISIS Coalition. They both agreed that the bilateral relations ought to be further developed in terms of politics and economy. Emphasizing on building strong political and economic relations, Ambassador Saccomani praised the bravery of the Peshmarga forces in the war and said that those forced deserve all appreciation. “We will continue to support the Peshmarga forces and the Kurdistan Region as the Canadian government,” said the Ambassador, adding that Kurdistan had long been ignored. “It is the time that Kurdistan comes out and shows the world what you have done over that period.”
On his part, Masrour Barzani appreciated Ambassador Saccomani’s personal role in developing the bilateral ties and reinstated the Kurdistan Region’s will to establish a constant and strong partnership with the Canadian government.
