Masrour Barzani asked for more heavy weapons and anti-mine equipment’s for Peshmarga in a meeting with the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq and Jordan.
In a meeting with Bruno Sakomani, the Adviser of Kurdistan Region’s Security Council Masrour Barzani, said the contextual reality of the war, which is an international one, requires the participation of all.
Both Sakomani and Barzani discussed the current status of the war fronts between Peshmarga and ISIS and the military needs of Peshmarga and agreed that they are the only force on ground that are now leading forward against ISIS.
“Without advanced and sophisticated weaponry, the defeat of ISIS might be implausible,” he said, adding that ISIS has still offensive capacity from Syria and Iraq.
On his part, the Canadian Ambassador stated that his country participated in this war within the international coalition framework where they stay committed to assist the Kurdistan Region in this war. He also referred to the MoU they have signed with the Ministry of Peshmerga.
Ambassador Sakomani said that his country’s Parliament authorized their military’s engagement to fight against ISIS.
The meeting ended by discussing sending of humanitarian aide to Kurdistan via Syria.
